Yesterday, I had the time of my life.

I got to see the one and only Victoria Monet in concert! Her show was not only sold out but truly packed to the brim. She deserved a bigger venue, for sure. Victoria not only exceeded my expectations, but she delivered a SHOW. This concert was actually a birthday gift for my mom’s birthday, which was earlier in September. We’re both big fans, so even though we live in South Florida, and the concert was in Atlanta, I wanted to treat her to a trip to see one of her favorite artists.

She actually surprised me and brought my friend, who’s more like family, with her. It was a true girls' night out. It was me, my roommate (Jaden), my mom, and my friend (Star). Victoria Monet is known for her browns and neutral color themes for her albums, so obviously, everyone, including us, came dressed to impress in our various shades of brown and gold.

While my mom and Star were flying from Miami, Jaden and I were driving the four-and-a-half-hour trip up north, and that was an experience in itself. While there were frustrations, traffic, and hold-ups getting to Atlanta, we eventually made it to the hotel, and we started the night.

When we got to the hotel, hugs and laughter were shared, and we got straight to business. We had maybe an hour and a half to get ready and get to the venue to ensure we got good spots for the show. While Jaden left a bit earlier than all of us, as she had some friends to meet, I took my time and made sure I looked perfect for this concert while also chatting it up with my mom and Star.

Around 7 p.m., we headed out, and because the hotel was so close to the venue, we actually got a shuttle ride there, so we were there within minutes. The line wasn’t long, so we got inside in less than 10 minutes. We walked in and headed straight to the merchandise line to see what was available. While the merch was sold out from the previous show, we were only able to get shirts if we purchased a signed CD of the album, and that’s exactly what we did.

To try and keep this short, the opener, Alex Vaughn, came out and sang her heart out on stage for about 20 minutes; she was phenomenal, and I may have to tune in. But then, Victoria came out.

And the crowd. Went. Wild.

It was dark, and the lights were shining center stage. Victoria came out in a studded, sheer brown, hooded veil. She slowly lifts it up while staring at the crowd; as the crowd goes wild, she starts the concert off with one of my favorite songs, Moment, from the first Jaguar album.

She shines, she dances, she stuns. Her hair flows as her body moves to the music, and we are all entranced. Between her soft and melodic voice and her sharp, fluid dance moves, Ms. Monet truly put on a show for us last night.

Sadly, only an hour later, she ended the show with her biggest hit right now, On My Mama, and all of a sudden, were moving towards the door. We waited a bit after, and luckily enough, we got to chat with her amazing choreographer, Sean Bankhead! We complimented him on his amazing work and sent him our praises for his accomplishments in the industry. Shortly after meeting Sean, the three of us headed back to the hotel, and Jaden stayed behind a bit longer, which is how she met Victoria.

At the hotel, I caught up with Star a bit, and while we chatted, my mom met up with a friend she used to work with. After that, we ate cold wings, showered, and passed out. Overall, the past 24 hours were full of never-ending roads, music, hugs, screams, laughter, sleep, and, most of all, fun. I felt so happy I got the chance to gift my mom this experience for her birthday and then share it with her. I truly am so blessed, and I can’t wait to see her again!!:)
